The album HEAVEN AND HELL is an original soundtrack composed by and for a photographic series, as part of a multidimensional project designed by Nhu Xuan Hua and Vimala Pons.

This work with multiple dimensions (visual, sound and spatial) is exhibited for the first time at the Rencontres Photographiques d'Arles 2024 from July 1.

Each track acts as the confession of nine women that the two artists created from fictional or real heroines. Vimala Pons embodies them through physical transformation work through which she becomes almost unrecognizable. Conversely, her voice remains identical in its range and inflections, an invitation to penetrate the psyche of each of these women for the time of listening.

The HEAVEN & HELL album was composed very early in the work of preparing the photographic series.

From the start of the development of the images, the sound and textual narration was a tool for creative dialogue between the two artists. Nhu Xuan Hua's visual research boards inspired these pieces and these texts. The images created the beginnings of these sound stories, then this same musical work came to color the images in return, during their creation. HEAVEN & HELL was a constant sonic and visual correspondence.
