Born in 1963, JonOne grew up in Harlem, New York. A painter, graffiti artist, and sculptor, he began his career in the 1970s by writing his name on walls and subways, which he refers to as "museums that cross the city." He moved to Paris in the early 1980s, where he began exploring movement, color, and the freedom of his lines, blending abstract art with street culture. His work reflects his imagination and optimistic view of society.

JonOne met agnès b. and first exhibited his work at the Galerie du Jour in 1989. Their friendship led to numerous collaborations, including performances, mural paintings, and clothing projects, such as a T-shirt sold to benefit the Fondation Abbé Pierre. Recognized by galleries and the art market, JonOne is a key figure in the contemporary international street art scene.
