Since its launch in 1975, agnès b. has been dedicated to French casual wear, carving out a unique identity by preserving essential elements while seamlessly integrating new influences. The "agnès b. JEANS" line epitomizes this approach, being the brand's inaugural item to embody this philosophy.
agnès b. loves jeans!
She knows the history of this garment like the back of her hand, and it has always been part of her collections and part of her world. In the 60s, she was already wearing jeans during the week, as were her children, whereas for the rest of society, jeans were reserved for the weekend!
She was one of the first to distribute the Levis 501 in her boutique on rue du Jour... at the time, this model was only available in a few Parisian boutiques... the lucky ones had it brought back from the States!
Today, she has chosen to showcase this legendary garment in all her shops, without sacrificing her criteria of style, fit, quality, comfort and ecological impact.
Fit and confort
agnès b. jeans are designed with both fit and comfort in mind. The brand understands that a great pair of jeans should not only look good but also feel good to wear. The jeans are cut to flatter various body types, with a focus on creating a comfortable yet stylish silhouette. They offer a range of fits, from slim to more relaxed cuts, ensuring that there is something for everyone.
Crafting agnès b. Jeans: Tailoring Excellence from Japan and Tunisia
agnès b. jeans are produced in two very different countries: Japan and Tunisia.
As always, agnès b. remains loyal to its suppliers. It therefore wanted to work with the countries of its beginnings and some of the jeans are produced in the factory of our Tunisian manufacturer. And while these jeans, made in Tunisia, call on a different kind of expertise, are more comfortable when first worn because the fabric contains a little elastane and the result is softer.
Other jeans are produced by the Kobayashi workshop in Japan... a team with a passion for traditional denim manufacturing who have bought the last working Selvedge machines and produce THE original 110-width, 100% cotton fabric! These jeans are therefore a little stiff to start with, like the first jeans worn by American pioneers.
agnès b. jeans are not synthetically washed
agnès b. jeans are not artificially faded. First because the leaching process uses a lot of water and is therefore not respectful of the environment and also because agnès b. likes the natural wear of worn jeans! They tell the life of their “owner”, evolving with his or her lifestyle, becoming a second skin… and that touches her!
Advice on looking after our jeans
There is a consensus among denim purists: you should delay washing your jeans for the first time for as long as possible! Wear the jeans for at least six months first! And of course, wash your jeans as little as possible. This will help prolong the fabric's life and prevent the indigo dye from fading.
Another common method is to delay the first wash for two to three months, then wash the jeans every six to 10 wears, depending on what you use them for. Remember: washing your jeans also imbues them with personality; they change over time, just like their owner!
