Stripes
It is one of the house's icons. Agnès tells about her fetish stripes.
The story between agnès b. and stripes began in 1966, when she was asked to design a striped t-shirt for the movie Who are you, Polly Maggoo? By William Klein. A decade later, when she launches her brand, the stacks of striped t-shirts are in high demand in the Rue du Jour shop. By then they are offered in four types: long sleeves, short sleeves, thin stripes (“12/12”) and thick stripes (“60/60”).
"Men and women both couldn’t get enough of it. The quality of the cotton was unmatched, it was the same cotton used to manufacture the rugby jerseys by Duarig, in the Vosges. We still sell them. We buy and the cotton and we dye it ourselves next to Paris," tells Agnès.
Since their inception, the stripes have appeared on a number of key items of the collection: the Tango skirts, the dresses, the snap cardigan…
