Androgeny
A look back at one of Agnès' great ideas: men and women can share their dressing rooms.
From the outset, Agnès has naturally blurred the lines between masculine and feminine. She has invited women into workwear, notably with garage suits, but she has also softened the tailoring pices. In the other direction, Agnès dresses her men in satin sarouels with linen jackets for summer.
"I put flowers on the men and stripes on the women…" wrote Agnès in the preamble to her summer 2004 show. "I wanted to please them, I wanted to make them beautiful, hoping they'd have fun!" She's never been afraid of gender confusion. "We're all different, we're all the same, and what could be more beautiful!" she likes to remind us.
