New York
Agnès tells about the deep relationship she has forged with this city that never sleeps.
For Agnès, New York is a city that represents freedom, diversity and limitless creativity. It's a place where anything is possible. Since opening her first boutique in Soho, at 116 Prince Street, in 1983, she has forged a deep relationship with this city that never sleeps. each time she visits, she draws on the vibrant soul of New York to breathe new life into her creations.
"I remember the first time I swept up the grime of New York outside the boutique. I had the strangest feeling that I was really at home. The neighbourhood still smelt of hard work and it was a place where hardly anyone came. In fact, that's what Jean-René and I liked about it - it made us feel like pioneers, like rue du Jour in Paris. And the atmosphere was a lot rockier than if we'd been in Uptown and the area was cheaper when we started out."
